Apr 11, 2013 ~ the future of huri.net

Anyone who actually reads this site, has probably noticed that it's gone rather dormant in the last few years. In fact, half the posts (like this one) are about the site itself, rather than being something interesting that people might actually want to read. So, I am planning a reboot. Not completely from scratch, I will save most of the old content, at least the stuff that's worth saving. This article will likely not be among the saved content. I'm working on a new content management system that will allow me to be more productive, and will inspire me to actually update the site on a more regular basis.

Mar 12, 2012 ~ Some sites are now offline

So, I rebuilt my server today. In the process I decided to just turn off a bunch of sites that I wasn't maintaining anymore. So if you've found this page but were expecting something else, that's probably why.

May 11, 2011 ~ Goodnight GreyNoise, Hello BlackNoise

So, GreyNoise was pissing me off with how it mangled Unicode stuff. The bug was somewhere deep in the belly of Template::TAL. I didn't feel like hunting for it. So, BlackNoise was born. It's a fork of GreyNoise that uses its own template format instead of TAL. The new templates are not as pretty (in fact they are pretty horrid looking, like old-school PHP) but it works. So, welcome BlackNoise. Next up: better navigation in stories.

Feb 02, 2011 ~ Welcome GreyNoise

Well, I had started the migration of this site to WhiteNoise, but Perl 6 is currently so slow and buggy, that I've given up. So, I wrote GreyNoise to replace it. After some growing pains (Perl 5 has it's own set of issues) the site is now finally back online (mostly.) Along with a new engine, the site has a completely new theme as well (for the first time in almost 2 years.)

Apr 07, 2009 ~ Streamlined Interface Debut

Due to feedback on the new interface introduced in January, I've now updated it to a new streamlined version. The side-bars are gone. Less clutter, more what you're looking for. The box is now centered rather than full screen, which should make things easier to read. Since the side-bars are gone, the "random thoughts" are now only found on the main page. There may be some missing sections, such as screenshots, but that's because I'm planning on integrating the screenshots page into a subsection of scrawl. Please let me know what you think of the streamlined theme.

Feb 04, 2009 ~ New Theme for a New Year

Jan 17, 2009 ~ Poems and Comics, Updated!

Yes, it's true, Shade and jargon have been updated! It's amazing. In the case of Shade, I have now finished Volume I. It didn't end quite the way I thought it would, but that's okay. In the case of jargon, well, it's working on the path to 500 strips! On September 15th of this year, jargon will celebrate it's 10th anniversary. I'm hoping that some time before that, it will celebrate it's 500th comic strip :-) Anyway, more updates coming soon.

May 09, 2005 ~ Changes Ahoy

Well not only is the main site restructured, but the backend code of huri.net has been completely re-written. The Gallery, Cyclopede and Infinode modules are totally gone, and Linkage has been ported to the new Websight framework, so jargon, XIE, Spin-A-Story and this page now all use the same modules. (If you're into graphic technical details read more).
