Okay, so I'll admit, I've seen the new episode already (the leaked copy) but I'm not going to write a review until I've seen the broadcast version, in case there are any differences. Now, I do want to say I absolutely LOVE it. It's great. This is Doctor Who for the 21st century.
Now a small comment on a something that people are saying is an inconsistancy issue. NOTE: This contains mild spoilers. We are given the impression that the Doctor has recently regenerated, and some people say that's an issue since another character has pictures of the new Doctor in various points around time, and how would the Doctor be in these pictures if he hadn't been around for a while? Easy: He's a bloody time traveller! He hasn't actually been to those places yet. It's a sign of where he may end up in other adventures. There, few, I had to get that out of the way. Geesh.
I'll add some more when I watch the episode on TV.
Update: 2025-08-21
So, now just over 20 years later, I've seen every episode of the reborn series. Back when I wrote this article, I'd already seen every surviving episode of the 1963~1989 run, Dimensions in Time, the 1996 TV Movie, The Curse of Fatal Death, The Scream of the Shalka, and read a bunch of the novels. These days we can add a bunch of the Big Finish audio stories to my list as well.
Anyway, it seems that we may have another hiatus on our hands again. I only hope it doesn't last as long as the previous one!
