HURI|NET, Strange and twisted fun since 1995

"We take English for granted but if we explore its paradoxes, we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square, and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. There is no egg in eggplant, no ham in hamburger, no apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren’t invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads which aren’t sweet, are meat.”

Ongoing Affairs (2005-06-22) / Site News

Well, I've been working on some major changes to Webtoo and SourceSystem, in preparation for a few more sites which will be powered by the new software. A new homepage for the Crown Point Hotel is under way, and a major update to the Indigo World magazine also. Read more for information on Shade, and Jargon, as well as some news on the site itself.

The Shaded Place

Yes, I have been adding some new content to the Shade page. I have a lot of new ideas for poems and stories I'm going to be adding, so if you're into that sort of stuff, keep your eyes open.

Jargon Comics

Jargon has gone stale again, but never fear, there has been some work on a new series that's even more bizarre than ever. I had two different chapter ideas, one which would continue the storyline, and another which would go back to the old style jargon (single strips about politics or society or whatever) and somewhere along the way I decided to merge them into one. So be on the lookout for some of the new material showing up soon. There will be some new characters, and some venerable old ones. Plus some Bad Wolf references thrown in for fun.

Huri|Net

Other than that, I am going to be updating some of the older articles, and adding some new ones. I'm going to try to make the site a lot more active, since it seems to have gotten fairly stale in the last few years. Updates at least once a week are planned.

Webtoo Websight

Oh, and one of the changes to the Webtoo Websight CMS was changing how it stores date stamps, and adding a changelog ability. Now the dates can be output in any format I want, depending on the template. This finally makes the RSS feed have proper RFC-2822 date fields. I also now have ISO-8601 compliant date stamps available, although they are used mostly for internal usage.

Anyway, the only impact this will have is, I converted all the old date stamps to the new format, including Changelogs. Well, if a lot of dates show "June 22" as the day, that's because some of the old dates didn't have MM or DD tags, so I automatically assumed June 22nd at 12:00.

Life in General

Have a great day, I know I will, it's my birthday. :-)
