Next year, this website will be 15 years old, the domain name 13.
Shade will be 12, Jargon 11, the name creative abstractions 10.
Some people say the world will end in 2012. Well, for this website,
as it currently exists, it ends in 2010.
Streamlined Interface Debut (2009-04-07) / site news
Due to feedback on the new interface introduced in January, I've now updated it to a new
streamlined version. The side-bars are gone. Less clutter, more what you're looking for.
The box is now centered rather than full screen, which should make things easier to read.
Since the side-bars are gone, the "random thoughts" are now only found on the main page.
There may be some missing sections, such as screenshots, but that's
because I'm planning on integrating the screenshots page into a subsection of scrawl.
Please let me know what you think of the streamlined theme.
Well, for the first time in over 5 years, huri.net has a new look and feel. This time it's not just the main articles that have been themed, but jargon, shade and scrawl have been updated to use the new theme as well.
Upgrade in Progress (2008-07-11) / Expect Breakage
The time has come. That's right, upgrade time.
Webtoo Websight 5 is nearly ready to replace the
whole site, and in preparation for that, some
changes have been made already. Read the full article for more information.
Coming Soon: The End (and the beginning) (2008-07-03) / webtoo, websight, website, massive change
So, as you may know, Webtoo Websight is the software that powers this website. It has had many rewrites over the years. Version 2 was a complete rewrite, so was version 3. Version 4 wasn't a complete rewrite, but it was a massive restructuring. Well the biggest change EVER is coming soon, and it's called Webtoo Websight 5. Read the rest to find out more.
Well, I've been working on some major changes to
Webtoo
and
SourceSystem,
in preparation for a few more sites which will be
powered by the new software. A new homepage for
the
Crown Point Hotel is under way, and a major
update to the
Indigo World magazine also. Read more for information
on Shade, and
Jargon, as well as
some news on the site itself.
Well not only is the main site restructured, but
the backend code of huri.net
has been completely re-written. The Gallery, Cyclopede and Infinode modules
are totally gone, and Linkage has been ported to the
new Websight framework, so jargon,
XIE,
Spin-A-Story
and this page now all use the same modules. (If you're into graphic technical details read more).
I have been quite quiet lately, leading many to wonder what's up. Well aside
from doing a lot of freelance work, I'm also working on a few other things,
three of which will make a lot of changes to this site. Read more if you're
interested in finding out what's happening.
Well, I guess this is the best way to put it. "I'm Back!"
It's been a while since I've updated this page, so it's about time.
This is basically just an announcement of what is to come. If you're
interested, read the rest.
Well first off, Webtoo has been greatly expanded, and I'm slowly working on
powering more sites with it. The Ablen Society is back, which is great. It's
working on restructuring at the moment, so there's not too much news on that
front.
Well, here we are, the year 2005. Things are slowly moving, and there
are changes coming to the site. The rest of this article will be of a more
'coming' soon nature, if you're interested.
Well, so far I've gotten all of the Webtoo powered stuff back online,
and have completed restoring old articles to the Honest Opinions
and Scattered Thoughts sections.
I also added a new article system, if you want of find out more, read
the rest of this story.
Site Problems & Rebirth (2004-12-04) / Major Events
Well, I can't say it's been the best time for huri.net or any of it's hosted
sites. My web host had a hardware failure, and everything was lost. To make
matters worse, I did not have a recent backup of the site, except for a few
things that were ported to Webtoo. The rest was, well, gone.
So I've started from scratch. Hopefully I'll be able to restore a lot of what
was on the site, but nothing is certain yet. We'll see how it goes.
Creative Abstractions (huri.net) was started in 1995. It had it's first
major crash in 1997, when all the content was lost and it had to be restarted.
It continued on until December 2004, when once again the site crashed, and
most of the content was lost. Fortunately, some of the content was restorable
and the restoration of the site begins. Stay tuned.
